Program Requirements

To ensure uniformity of training, graduate students in the Neurological and Rehabilitation Sciences Training Program must participate in certain activities and receiving a passing grade in certain courses.  Specifically, the requirements for participation in the program are: 

Required Courses/Activities
  • Introduction to Clinical Research (PRVM 803, 1 credit hour, fall)
  • Clinical Rotations - five ½ days shadowing
    • This requirement is waived for M.D./Ph.D. trainees
    • Clinical Observation In Health Care For Bioengineers (GSMC 840, 3 credit hours, fall) may be substituted for bioengineering trainees
  • Monthly trainee luncheon coordinated by the program administrator
  • Summer activities as announced
  • Two (2) electives of the trainee's choice that meet the requirements for degree completion and that are appropriate topics for training in neurological and rehabilitation sciences. The elective course plan must be preapproved by the Training Program Internal Advisory Committee.
