Based at KU Medical Center, the Implementation Science for Equity Center (ISEC) is a Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) supported by the National Institutes of Health through a $11.5 million grant that will continue building KU’s long history of research initiatives. Implementation science is an emerging field of research that specifically focuses on identifying the best approaches to integrating evidence-based practices into routine clinical care.
The goal of the ISEC is to bridge the gap between research and practice. It takes an average of 17 years for research knowledge to make its way from the lab to the clinic. The new center will develop and test implementation science approaches designed to achieve equitable care for rural, minority and other underserved populations.
