Services & Equipment
Services
- Sample Preparation and Optimization – The facility provides assisted and unassisted sample preparation for Single Particle Analysis (SPA) studies in our fully equipped sample preparation room.
- Screening and Data Collection – With the recent acquisition of the Glacios Cryo-TEM equipped with Falcon 4i and Selectris, the Cryo-EM facility can provide quick access to screening samples and complete data collection for 3D reconstruction.
- Data Analysis – Once data is collected it is stored in our data storage facility where we have a scalable computing cluster configured with CryoSPARCTM We are fully equipped to securely transfer data, should you wish to offload data to a different site for storage and analysis.
- Training and Consults – For groups that are new to Cryo-EM we can provide training and consultation to support project success.
- Mass Photometry - The TwoMP Mass photometer is capable of measuring molecular weight of biomolecules from 50 kDa to 5 MDa and can be used independently by training users or full service by core staff.
Equipment
The new state-of-the-art Thermo Glacios cryo-electron microscope with Selectris and Falcon 4 was acquired through a partnership between the Executive Vice Chancellor, the KU Cancer Center and the KU School of Medicine.
Our sample preparation room is fully equipped to complete grid freezing and grid clipping with a Vitrobot Mark IV plunge freezer, Pelco easiglo glow discharge unit, and Nanosoft and TFS clipping stations.
