We have developed core training activities that are required for full-time funded trainees (graduate scholars and postdoctoral fellows) to ensure trainees are exposed to core ADRD knowledge and acquire a perspective that spans clinical, translational, and basic science.

1. Dual mentorship plan with mentors from both basic and clinically themed research backgrounds
2. Individual Development Plan (IDP) to provide structure to the mentoring plan
3. Submission of a grant application, such as an F30/31 for predoctoral scholars and an F32/K-award for postdoctoral scholars
4. Required completion of “Clinical and Biological Basics of Dementia,” “Grant Writing,” and “Introduction to Research Ethics.”
5. Semi-monthly participation in the Collaborative Research Workgroup (called JayCReW)
6. Clinical exposure to patient care and caregiver support through a rotation in the Memory Care Clinic
7. Required presentations (3 or more per year) at JayCReW, Scholar Luncheons, and the Student Research Forum, and the BHTP Annual Retreat

8. Semi-annual meetings with the director(s) in a one-on-one format to assess progress on the individualized development plan and career development to ensure the trainee’s success.
