Core (Required) Training Activities for BHTP Graduate Scholars and Fellows
We have developed core training activities that are required for full-time funded trainees (graduate scholars and postdoctoral fellows) to ensure trainees are exposed to core ADRD knowledge and acquire a perspective that spans clinical, translational, and basic science.
- Dual mentorship plan with mentors from both basic and clinically themed research backgrounds
- Individual Development Plan (IDP) to provide structure to the mentoring plan
- Submission of a grant application, such as an F30/31 for predoctoral scholars and an F32/K-award for postdoctoral scholars
- Required completion of “Clinical and Biological Basics of Dementia,” “Grant Writing,” and “Introduction to Research Ethics.”
- Semi-monthly participation in the Collaborative Research Workgroup (called JayCReW)
- Clinical exposure to patient care and caregiver support through a rotation in the Memory Care Clinic
- Required presentations (3 or more per year) at JayCReW, Scholar Luncheons, and the Student Research Forum, and the BHTP Annual Retreat

Semi-annual meetings with the director(s) in a one-on-one format to assess progress on the individualized development plan and career development to ensure the trainee’s success.
