Children are still catching up from all that was missed during the pandemic. This makes reading over the summer even more important! We have put together some resources for parents and kids to help avoid that summer slide (see Sallie's Medical Minute for more information on this).
Summer Reading at the Johnson County Public Library
Each summer, Johnson County Library offers programs and events connected to a theme chosen by the Collaborative Summer Library Program and adopted by libraries across the country. This year the theme is the theme All Together Now.
Summer Library Program by Mid-Continent Public Library
Read and win prizes (ages 0-19) at MCL this summer! They also offer Dial-a-story, homework help, story times and even have a librarian help find your next book!
Summer Reading Program Kick-off Party by Kansas City, Kansas Public Library
Celebrate the start of Summer Reading with a FREE movie: Minions: Rise of Gru (2022) on 6/1/23 at the Boulevard Drive-In. Pre-show entertainment will include bubbles, face-painting, summer reading sign-up, and a book giveaway with local author Chris Meggs. Each car of attendees will receive a free copy of his book Go Chiefs Go while supplies last!
