I had the great pleasure of guest reading for my son’s kindergarten class last month. I brought several books to share including his absolute favorite, Nibbles: The Book Monster. My boys are obsessed with silly stories starring naughty characters and Nibbles is a prime choice in our house. The story follows the escaped book monster as he eats his way through classic fairy tales. The tales get stranger and stranger with each nibble. He even turns Red Riding Hood’s wolf into a chicken! There is nothing quite so magical as hearing your child give a full body laugh and this book has given us hundreds over the years. And the best part is that it got my boys interested in hearing the classic fairy tales that Nibbles mucks up, which lead to more reading together! Nibbles now stars in a series of books, each one as delightful as the last.
