Dr. Richard Deitz is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Kansas Hospital. After 25 years as a clinical attending physician in the main Emergency Department supervising medical students, off-service residents and recently Emergency Medicine Residents, he now practices full time in the ED Observation Unit.
He currently is the Medical Co-Director for the University of Kansas Health System Chest Pain Center.
He is credentialed in Hyperbaric Medicine and continues to take emergent HBO call and staff routine HBO treatments.
He has served as the Emergency Department off-service resident rotation Director, the Emergency Department Informatics System Director, Physician Advisor for the Health System EMR, physician EMR implementation team leader, Medical Student rotation coordinator, and as the elected community representative for the city-wide EMS service. He has additional training in Biomedical Informatics and ED Point of Care Ultrasound.
