Professional Background

Becky Bliss, DHSc, DPT, PT, joined the Department of Physical Therapy, Rehabilitation Science, and Athletic Training as a clinical associate professor in January 2024. Board-certified in neurological physical therapy, she currently works in development of the rural pathway for KU's doctorate program in physical therapy. She holds professional certification in vestibular rehabilitation and advanced vestibular rehabilitation from the American Physical Therapy Association.

After completing a doctorate in physical therapy at Des Moines University in 2014, Bliss obtained a doctorate in health science from the University of Indianapolis in 2019. She graduated from Ithaca College with a bachelor's degree in clinical science and a master's degree in physical therapy.

Bliss has been actively practicing in the field of physical therapy for more than 20 years, with specialization in concussion management since 2006. She is active within the concussion committees of the Academy of Neurological Physical Therapy and American Physical Therapy Association, in addition to providing telementorship nationally through Missouri Telehealth Network's Concussion ECHO program.


Research

Overview

Bliss is active in clinical research which includes translating best practice in concussion care into clinical practice and higher level neuromotor control deficits that are not detected by routine clinical examinations. She is also active in educational research and is a member of the Leveraging Education And Research Now (LEARN) Lab at KU Medical Center.
