Rajeev Badkul joined the University of Kansas Cancer Center in January 2003 as a Medical Physicist and Assistant Professor. He currently serves as the Director of Brachytherapy Services and lead medical physicist. With over 32 years of clinical experience, he brings a strong background in both clinical practice and research.
His expertise spans a wide range of advanced radiation therapy techniques, including IMRT, VMAT, IGRT, SRS, SBRT, HDR, and LDR. He has played a key role in the commissioning and clinical implementation of multiple linear accelerators—such as Edge, TrueBeam, and Novalis Tx with SRS/SBRT capabilities—at KU Medical Center.
Rajeev's brachytherapy experience includes commissioning and delivering HDR and LDR prostate implants, gynecological HDR treatments, and GammaTile brain implants. He has also contributed to the establishment of a radiopharmaceutical therapy program within the department.
Academically, he has served as a faculty member in Medical Physics at the University of Kansas School of Medicine for over 22 years, actively involved in teaching and mentoring radiation oncology and medical physics residents, as well as dosimetry and radiation therapy students.
