OFCCP Compliance

The University of Kansas Medical Center recognizes that engaging the backgrounds, experiences and perspectives of its employees is critical to enriching an environment that will foster innovation in education, research and healthcare. KU Medical Center is committed to ensuring compliance with its responsibilities as a federal contractor by encouraging and fostering recruitment and retention practices that benefit individuals with disabilities and protected veterans.

Equal Opportunity Laws

Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 prohibits federal contractors from discriminating against individuals with disabilities and requires contractors to take positive efforts to employ and advance individuals with disabilities. In 2013, Congress published revised regulations to Section 503 which also require contractors to invite applicants and new hires to self-identify as an individual with a disability.  Current employees can update their disability status at any time by following the steps on the Invitation to Self-Identify link to the left.

The Vietnam Era Veterans' Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA) prohibits federal contractors from discriminating against an individual based on their veteran status and requires contractors to take positive efforts to employ and advance covered veterans. In 2013, Congress also published revised regulations to VEVRAA which require contractors to invite applicants and new hires to self-identify as a protected veteran. Current employees can update their veteran status by following the steps on the Invitation to Self-Identify link to the left.
