Kansas Board of Regents policy requires faculty and unclassified staff of Regents institutions to file a Conflict of Interest certification form upon employment and at least annually thereafter. In addition, federal policies require assurances that all investigators on a research project are in compliance with institutional conflict of interest reporting procedures. Conflict of Interest reporting is, in most instances, completed via electronic submission in the myCOI system.

Reporting Methods

  • Instructions and guides for using the myCOI system are posted at the myCOI resource site
  • If you are a KUMC faculty or staff member, you have an account in eCompliance and myCOI. Log in using your KUMC username and password. For COI disclosure, access myCOI
  • If you are a KUMC student, you have an account in myCOI; however, you will need your account enabled in myCOI if you have not previously disclosed in myCOI. Please reach out to or ask a study team member or instructor to contact for assistance.
  • Otherwise, if you are an individual affiliated with research through KUMC, but not an employee or student at the University, an account may need to be created on your behalf. Please follow the instructions located at Technology Services’ Sponsor a Network Account for a University affiliate website.

    For those individuals who will have limited interaction with the KUMC research enterprise (eg, single project and no need to access other KUMC network-supported systems), you may be able to complete COI via an offline form. Contact the COI office to discuss this option.

Reporting Process

New employees
Annual COI Certifications are created in myCOI as new non-temporary faculty and unclassified professional staff join the KUMC community. These new KUMC personnel will be notified of their COI certification form's availability in a system-generated email from with a direct link to their certification disclosure form. To login, please use your KUMC network username and password.

Annual Reporting
The KUMC annual reporting window takes place for faculty, staff and research affiliates in Mid-February. Email notifications will be sent during this time. To login, please use your KUMC network username and password. If you do not receive an e-mail with the link to your Annual COI certification, please contact the COI Office. 

Ad hoc/Update Report
In addition to annual reporting, faculty and staff must complete an ad hoc update to their disclosure report within 30 days if their financial relationships change during the fiscal year. To update your disclosures throughout the year, log-in to myCOI, navigate to the COI tab, click on your Disclosure Profile and initiate by clicking the Edit Disclosure Profile button
