SensusAccess
SensusAccess is an online, self-service app that converts text and image-based file types into alternate and more accessible formats such as MP3 audio, Braille, e-books, and tagged PDFs.
- It’s free to all users with a valid kumc.edu email account.
- Conversion is available 24/7.
SensusAccess does not replace the need to create documents in an accessible manner, and the SensusAccess conversion process alone may not produce a fully accessible WCAG 2.1 compliant document. Content owners using SensusAccess for remediation purposes should always manually review remediated content for accuracy, layout and readability. Consult the KU Medical Center Technology Accessibility guides and training for creating WCAG compliant content.
As per the Department of Justice’s New Rule on the Accessibility of Web Content and Mobile Apps Provided by State and Local Governments, the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) Version 2.1, Level AA is the technical standard for state and local governments’ web content and mobile apps.
Documents with sensitive, confidential or restricted data as outlined in the Data Classification Procedure Document should not be uploaded into SensusAccess.
