Purpose and Mission
The Office of ADA Compliance promotes and supports the university's culture of inclusion and equal access for people with disabilities. The principles of reasonable accommodation are articulated in provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA) of 2008, the Federal Rehabilitation Act of 1974 and the Kansas Act Against Discrimination.
To comply with these laws, the university provides reasonable accommodation in all aspects of employment, all university services or activities provided to the general public and all educational programs, services and activities. The ADA Director provides oversight and leadership on all aspects of reasonable accommodations for all students and employees of the university. Further, the ADA Office collaborates with Facilities to ensure structural accessibility and improvement of university structures to ensure accessibility for all.
