Professional Background
Dr. Matthew Vopat is a sports medicine surgeon specializing in pediatric and adult conditions of the shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee. He earned his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine and completed his residency at the University of Kansas School of Medicine - Wichita. Dr. Vopat then completed his sports medicine fellowship at the Steadman Philippon Research Institute in Vail, Colorado. Currently, Dr. Vopat is a team physician for the U.S. Ski and Snowboard team. His clinical focus includes pediatric and adult sports medicine involving: shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee injuries, joint preservation, arthroscopic surgery, and shoulder arthroplasty. Growing up on a small family farm in central Kansas gave him a unique perspective on the importance of maintaining one’s physical and mental health. His desire is to help motivated athletes and individuals of all levels get back to their way of life so they can achieve their goals. In addition to working with athletes in the Kansas City area, Dr. Vopat also spends time in Great Bend, Kansas providing care to athletes and individuals in rural America to ensure they can pursue their ambitions whether that be kicking goals, running touchdowns, or providing for their families.
