Professional Background
Assistant Professor of Hospital Medicine, University of Kansas Medical Center. My clinical responsibilities as a hospitalist on teaching services is focused on inpatient care with learners of all levels. Patient care in the inpatient setting can be challenging but equally rewarding. For those who are ill enough to be admitted, the goal is to provide them with the attention and care they need. This requires an ability to establish quick trust and rapport, move thoughtfully and efficiently and ensure the patient not only improves, but has a safe discharge plan to continue their treatment and prevent illness re-occurrence. The responsibilities to learners is to ensure the are developing meaningful relationships with their patients to ensure their action plans are consistent with the goals and needs of each individual.
