Professional Background

Dr. Lewis has focused his efforts on managing acutely ill children, medically complex children, and on organizational leadership to improve the care of children and adults. His leadership roles include:
-Vice Chair for Clinical Operations for the Department of Pediatrics
-Medical Director of the Pediatrics Unit and Pediatrics Intensive Care Unit for the KU Health System
-Program Director of the Pediatric Cystic Fibrosis Care Ream at KU
-Division Director for General Pediatrics at KU
-Chair of the KU Health System Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee

Aside from his administrative roles, Dr Lewis is active in both the inpatient and outpatient settings providing direct care to patients.

Research

Overview

Dr Lewis has been involved in multiple clinical trials including the groundbreaking Trikafta study in cystic fibrosis as a sub-investigator.

Current studies he is the primary investigator on at KUMC include novel ways to use xenon in MRI for cystic fibrosis patients before and after Trikafta initiation.
