Lauren Bartik, M.S., CGC, joined KU in 2022 as the assistant director of the master’s degree program in genetic counseling at KU Medical Center. She holds a faculty appointment as clinical associate professor in the KU Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences.
As a certified genetic counselor, Bartik has practiced at Children’s Mercy Hospital for ten years. Her primary specialty has been pediatrics with a focus on cardiology, craniofacial, inpatient consults and 22q11.2 deletion/duplication syndrome. Alongside her pediatric roles, she has also spent time working as a prenatal genetic counselor, research genetic counselor and laboratory genetic counselor.
Bartik has been a member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors since 2010. She has served on various committees including a three-year term on the membership committee followed by three years on the professional status survey committee working group. She also served as the scholarship subcommittee chair for two years. Lauren is a member of the 22q11.2 Society.
Lauren Bartik earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Dayton in 2010. She received a master’s degree in genetic counseling from the University of Cincinnati in 2012.
