Professional Background
Long F. Davalos Loo, M.D., is an assistant professor in the Department of Neurology at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He joined the faculty in 2024. Dr. Davalos previously served as assistant professor of neurology at the University of Cincinnati, where he was recognized as neurology faculty of the year in 2022.
He earned his medical degree from Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Lima, Peru. After completing medical school, he completed his neurology residency at the University of Cincinnati. He finished his neuromuscular medicine fellowship at the University of Michigan.
Dr. Davalos is board certified in neurology, neuromuscular medicine and electrodiagnostic medicine. He specializes in neuromuscular neurology and, in 2023, was ranked in the top 1% of clinicians for Press Ganey Patient Experience Scores.

Research
Overview
Dr. Davalos’ research interests include axonal and demyelinating acquired peripheral neuropathies. An active researcher, he has assisted with several clinical trials exploring treatments for myasthenia gravis, acute (AIDP) and chronic inflammatory demyelinating neuropathies (CIDP) and anti-Myelin Associated Glycoprotein Neuropathy. He has published articles related to vasculitic and amyloid neuropathy, distal symmetric polyneuropathy, AIDP, CIDP, myasthenia gravis and myositis. He has presented posters and abstracts at the AANEM, AAN and PNS annual meetings and co-authored three book chapters about the diagnosis and treatment of diabetic neuropathy, and inclusion body myositis.
