Professional Background

Lynn Fisher, MD, received his undergraduate degree in human biology from the University of Kansas and his medical degree from KU School of Medicine-Wichita. He completed a family medicine residency at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, Colorado. He practiced full-spectrum rural family medicine for 15 years in the towns of Great Bend and Plainville before joining the Department of Family and Community Medicine in 2019. He is currently the course director for rural rotations and family medicine electives and serves as an assistant clerkship director. He is a faculty co-advisor for both the Family Medicine Interest Group and Rural Medicine Interest Group. He is also an associate director for education and services with the Kansas Center for Rural Health.

In December 2025, Dr. Fisher became board certified in Lifestyle Medicine and is implementing the American College of Lifestyle Medicine residency curriculum at the KUSM-W Family Medicine Residency Program at Smoky Hill in Salina, Kansas.
