Professional Background

Dr. Kellie Wark is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Dr. Wark completed her undergraduate, medical school, internal medicine residency and infectious fellowship education all at the University of Kansas. In addition to general infectious diseases and antibiotic resistance, Dr. Wark has interest in antibiotic stewardship and serves on KUMC's Antibiotic Stewardship Program and co-leads the Ambulatory Antibiotic Stewardship subcommittee.

Post-fellowship she pursued additional training in public health acquiring an MPH from George Washington University and has worked at the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) in the Healthcare Associated Infections and Antimicrobial Resistance Program. Dr. Wark is the Antibiotic Stewardship Lead and Antimicrobial Resistance Subject Matter Expert at KDHE, and serves as the stewardship leader and multi-drug resistant organisms subcommittees of the Kansas State Healthcare Associated Infections and Resistance Advisory Board.

She has developed many public health initiatives including co-chairing #KSFightsFlu, a collegiate flu campaign amongst Kansas colleges and universities in conjunction with Immunize Kansas Coalition and the Kansas Foundation for Medical Care. She has been the curriculum developer for statewide educational series targeting antibiotic stewardship and infection control in collaboration with the Kansas Healthcare Collaborative and the Kansas Foundation for Medical Care, as well as an ECHO series targeting clinician awareness and diagnosis of local tick-borne diseases.
