Professional Development

A key goal in KUMC's strategic plan is a focus on People. KUMC is committed to develop and support a valued and respected workforce. To achieve that goal, KUMC provides a variety of professional development opportunities through the institution, through the schools, and through departments. The Organizational Improvement Office (OIO) coordinates and delivers a variety of professional development opportunties to faculty and staff at little or no cost to the individual or to their department. Some key opportunities include:

  • Baldrige Institute for Performance Excellence - KUMC has a site license to the Institute's performance excellence resources and training. Set up your free account today. Click here.
  • CliftonStrengths - CliftonStrengths focuses on developing and applying natural talents to accomplish work effectively. Individual and team coaching is provided by a Gallup-certified coach.
  • Jayhawk Way Foundations Course - Commonly referred to simply as "Jayhawk Way," this is KUMC's hallmark Jayhawk Way program, open to all faculty and staff.
  • Leadership by Design - This is a pilot program designed to enhance leadership skills for institutional, school and department leaders.
