Kurt P. Schropp, MD, FAAP, FACS

Professional Background

Dr. Kurt Schropp, MD, FAAP, FACS, is an Associate Professor of Surgery and Division Chief of the General and Pediatric Surgery Division and is the Program Director of the General Surgery Residency Program at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, Dr. Schropp attended Creighton University, followed by Creighton University Medical School. His general surgical residency was completed at the Ohio State University Hospitals, then a pediatric surgery residency at Columbus Children's Hospital. Dr. Schropp went into practice for the first twelve years in Memphis, Tennessee, where he practiced at St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital and the LeBonheur Children's Hospital. In 2002, he joined our faculty and has been the general surgery residency program director since late 2004.
Dr. Schropp is married with three daughters, two sons-in-law, and two grandchildren. He has many hobbies, including being a "handyman," running, biking, water, and snow skiing. Dr. Schropp also has a pilot's license that he doesn't use often and also loves SCUBA diving.
