Philosophy of Teaching:
I believe that the best teachers are enthusiastic, approachable, and collaborative. When I reflect on great teachers that I have had, the first thing that stands out is not their knowledge, but often their love and enthusiasm for teaching. Enthusiastic and engaged teachers are able to excite their learners. Additionally, having faculty that are approachable is a key component of any curriculum. Every learner brings a unique perspective and experience to the classroom. When faculty is approachable, it allows for engagement and constructive feedback from the learners. Finally, taking a collaborative approach allows the course to combine the best elements from multiple sources. When a patient interacts with the healthcare system, they do not having a singular experience with one provider but rather multiple experiences across relationships. Creating a collaborative teaching environment allows provides education that approaches a topic from multiple perspectives.
