Professional Background

Kaitlyn Brown, MHSA, RHIA, is a clinical assistant professor in the KU Department of Health Information Management. An alumna of KU's bachelor's degree program in health information management, Brown returned to the medical center campus in June 2019 where she now teaches and trains future professionals in this field. She earned a master's degree in health service administration from the University of Kansas in 2017.

A registered health information administrator, Brown currently serves as an information systems analyst at Saint Luke's Health System in Kansas City, Mo. She has also held positions as a data integrity specialist at Saint Luke's.

During 2009-2015, Brown served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves which included a deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Brown is actively involved as a member of the American Health Information Management Association as well as the Kansas and Missouri state professional associations. Since 2016, she has served on the board of directors for the Kansas City Health Information Management Association, and in June 2019 was chosen the association's president elect.
