Professional Background

Dr. Phalen is a general pediatrician in the Kansas City area who is dedicated to providing her patients with compassionate and comprehensive primary care. She is originally from Pittsburg, KS and is a graduate of Pittsburg High School. She earned her undergraduate degree in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology at the University of Kansas in 2018, where she was a member of the Honor’s Program and graduated with Highest Distinction from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. She then earned her medical degree at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 2022 where she was the recipient of the Dr. Louise deSchweinitz Award for most outstanding student performance on the clinical rotation in Pediatrics. Following medical school, she moved to Milwaukee, WI where she completed pediatric residency training at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. She moved back to Kansas to join the University of Kansas Health System in 2025. Her favorite part about her job is getting to know the families she works with and building relationships with her patients as they grow from newborns into young adults. Outside of clinic, you can find her spending time with her family, playing with her golden retriever, and cheering on the Chiefs, Royals, and Jayhawks!
