Dr. Jonathan Wilcher is an Emergency Medicine Physician certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) and Associate Professor at The University of Kansas Health System, the region’s premier academic medical Center, Level 1 Trauma Center, and tertiary referral center. Dr. Wilcher has met the educational, professional standing, and examination standards necessary to demonstrate expertise in Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Wilcher received his medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in Richmond, VA. He then proceeded to complete Emergency Medicine residency and chief residency at Pitt County Memorial Hospital of East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine in Greenville, NC. Dr. Wilcher then gained valuable experience as a community medicine attending physician before joining the faculty of The University of Kansas Health System in 2009.

Dr. Wilcher specializes in general Emergency Medicine, served as the Emergency Medicine student clerkship director from 2009-2019, and has particular interest in both undergraduate and graduate medical education.

Research

Overview

Dr. Wilcher has research interests related to, and involving, the neurosciences, trauma-related emergencies, and medications for the treatment of the acutely ill patient. Current interests are in the advancement of emergency medicine and emergency medicine education, medical student and resident education, and GLBTQ health.
