Professional Background

Dr. Jamie Wagner, DO, MBA, is a Professor of Surgery, at the University of Kansas Medical Center where she serves as the Vice-Chair of Clinical Affairs and Division Chief of the Breast Surgical Oncology Division in the Department of Surgery, and Breast Program Director at the University of Kansas Cancer Center. Dr. Wagner was raised in western Kansas and Northeast Missouri. She completed her undergraduate education at Truman State University and medical school at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. She then went to Texas for her residency in General Surgery at Plaza Medical Center in Fort Worth. She continued her training in the area of Breast Surgical Oncology at The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. She remained there as a faculty member of the Department of Surgical Oncology until 2013 when she joined The University of Kansas Health System.

Overview

As a result of her strong academic experience, Dr. Wagner continues to pursue her research interests in breast cancer. She has a particular interest in management of locally advanced breast cancer and health care economics and disparities. Dr. Wagner is passionate about her research as it directly impacts the patients she treats. She is dedicated to her patients with a compassionate personal approach.
