Dr. Mahnken is a Professor of Biostatistics andamp; Data Science. Since 2011 he has served as Director of the Data Management and Statistical Core for the University of Kansas Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center and since 2020 as co-lead for the Research Methods Core for Frontiers, our Clinical and Translational Science Institute. Dr. Mahnken has also worked previously as co-investigator on other large, NIH-funded research programs during his tenure at KUMC, which began in 2004. He is co-author to over 100 publications in the areas of statistics and their applications in biomedical sciences. Dr. Mahnken also mentors junior faculty both within and outside of his department.

Research
Overview
Dr. Mahnken's scientific expertise includes study design and data analysis, including that for categorical data, censored data, and challenging model parameterizations. His experience also includes providing guidance and oversight on data collection and management, interpretation and communication of results, manuscript development, and guidance on future directions based on study results and implications.
