Professional Background

A clinical assistant professor for the Department of Hearing and Speech, Anjelica D. Pearson, Au.D., CCC-A, F-AAA, focuses on mentoring and supervising students in the pediatric audiology clinic at KU Medical Center. She currently serves as primary instructor for courses AUD 817 Pediatric Audiology and AUD 821 Hearing Aids II in KU's doctoral degree program in audiology. Pearson specializes in providing services to ages birth to 21 with emphasis on early identification and intervention of children with hearing loss.

In addition, Pearson serves as the audiology discipline supervisor for the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopment and Related Disabilities (LEND) training program at KU Medical Center.

Pearson earned her doctorate in audiology from the University of Kansas in 2020. She completed a bachelor's degree in speech-language hearing, also from KU, in 2016. She also obtained a bachelor's degree in sociology and Spanish from Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas.

Prior to returning to join the faculty at KU in 2022, Pearson trained at a pediatric audiology clinic at a local children's hospital in Kansas City and worked as an educational audiologist in Topeka, Kansas. Among her many responsibilities for Topeka Public Schools USD 510, she conducted comprehensive hearing evaluations and performed auditory processing disorder screenings.

Pearson holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-A) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is board certified in audiology and a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology. Pearson has a special interest in philanthropic and outreach audiology.
