Professional Background

Originally from Michigan, where he attended medical school, Dr. Domino joined KUMC in August 2024 as an assistant professor of neurosurgery in the Department of Neurology. Since coming to the Midwest for his residency in neurosurgery, Dr. Domino has made the Kansas City metro his home—and his whole family has joined him, even his parents and brother! He loves the neurosciences and chose his neurosurgery residency based on his love of the field, but also truly loves helping people, even when they’re navigating a critical, meaningful point in their medical care.

Dr. Domino believes the intersection of patient care and science means continuing to find cutting-edge therapies—not far away, but right here, in his patients’ backyards. His subspeciality, neuro-oncology, continues to innovate therapies by pursuing every avenue to make sure patients have the best options for their disease. He has published articles in Journal of Neurosurgical Sciences, Neuro-Oncology, Frontiers in Physiology, Tremor and Other Hyperkinetic Movements, Frontiers in Oncology, Child’s Nervous System, and Journal of Neurosurgery: Pediatrics, among others. He completed a neurosurgical oncology fellowship at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida in 2024. One of his biggest research projects to date was as co-primary investigator on a study following the role of branched-chain ketoacids in neurological deterioration in breast cancer-leptomeningeal metastasis. He holds a reviewer position at journals including World Neurosurgery, Interdisciplinary Neurosurgery: Advanced Techniques and Clinical Spine Surgery.

Dr. Domino’s main concern for his patients is that they feel heard and know they are cared for. He wants to empower patients to work with their physicians to find the right treatment for them and their situation. He cares deeply for his patients and community.
