Professional Background

Dr. JP Darche is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine with an additional certification in sports medicine. He completed a fellowship at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He earned his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine and completed his residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center. As a former football player who played 9 years in the NFL, he fully understands how injuries affect athletes and how important it is for active people to return to their sports as safely and as quickly as possible.

By combining both sports medicine and primary care, he provides the full spectrum of care for patients of all ages. He particularly enjoys helping active people continue to practice their sports or activities at a competitive or recreational level, and he believes his training allows him to see the whole person instead of focusing only on the injury. This results in more practical and effective treatments.

After completing his medical training at the University of Kansas Medical Center, he chose to continue his career with the University of Kansas Health System, as it is the premier facility for sports medicine in the region. He enjoys being a part of a team of highly qualified physicians who excel at coordinating interdisciplinary care for athletes of all ages and skill levels.
