Professional Background

Dr. John Alley, MD, FACS, is an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the General and Pediatric Surgery Division at the University of Kansas Medical Center. A native Kansan, Dr. Alley joined the United States Army in 1991 after completing a few undergraduate years in college. Serving a total of ten years in the military, at the conclusion of the first four-year tour, he returned to college in 1995 at Pittsburg State University to complete his Bachelor of Science in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Physics. He attended medical school at the University of Kansas School of Medicine and graduated with the class of 2002. After medical school, he also completed his General Surgery training at KUMC. His main interests include emergency, laparoscopic, and hernia surgery.
