We are proud to provide in-person and virtual tours of KU Medical Center's campuses, buildings and programs. Tours are subject to availability and approval.
Community Tours at KU Medical Center
The University of Kansas Medical Center is part of a world-class academic medical center campus shared with our clinical partner, The University of Kansas Health System. Our campus at 39th and Rainbow in Kansas City, Kansas, is a regional hub for biomedical research and a destination for complex care. The medical center’s Institute for Community Engagement offers general information tours of some of the major teaching, research and clinical care buildings on campus.
About the tours
- Tours are offered the second Tuesday and fourth Thursday of each month on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Tours are intended for community members, local or professional organizations or other similar groups of 5-15 attendees.
- Tours last approximately 90 minutes and are of common areas only with general information provided about each location.
- These tours do not include interaction with clinicians, researchers or patients. Please see other tours below for additional options.
- Much of the tour time is spent standing or walking between spaces so please wear comfortable shoes. The tour is fully accessible for visitors using wheelchairs or other mobility aids.
- The tour guide will discuss the history and current functions of buildings and highlight artwork, landscaping or other interesting details.
- Tours are interactive, questions are welcome!

- or other campus areas, when feasible, locations may be tailored to a group’s request.
