2026 Categories

Adult Photographers (18+) may enter up to two (2) photographs in each category.

Youth Photographers (13–17) may enter up to three (3) photographs total in any of the categories. All Youth division entries will be judged as one group.


Hidden Gems of Kansas

Showcase the lesser‑known places, moments, and details that make Kansas special.
Examples: quiet backroads, tucked‑away landmarks, small‑town murals, local traditions, unexpected landscapes, overlooked beauty.

Sky’s the Limit

Celebrate the vast and ever‑changing skies of Kansas.
Examples: sunrise, sunset, storm clouds, big‑sky vistas, stargazing, rainbows, sunbeams.

Healthcare in Kansas

Highlight the unique character and beauty of Kansas throughout the year.
Examples: spring planting, summer harvest, fall foliage, winter snow, seasonal traditions or festivals.

Seasons of Kansas

Highlight the unique character and beauty of Kansas throughout the year.
Examples: spring planting, summer harvest, fall foliage, winter snow, seasonal traditions or festivals.

Wildlife and Critters

Feature the animals that call Kansas home, whether wild or domestic.
Examples: deer in a field, birds in flight, farm animals, insects, prairie wildlife, bison on the range.

Youth Division (Ages 13-17)

A special division for young photographers. Youth may submit up to three (3) photographs in any mix of the 2026 categories. Youth entries are judged separately from the general contest.
