All KLT and KLT+ providers are required to have personal medical professional liability insurance that shows limits of 1 million dollars per occurrence/3 million dollars annual aggregate to participate.

Rural Health Education and Services (RHES) offers sponsorships to help KLT resident physicians and fellows cover medical professional liability insurance (up to a $1,400 value). Sponsorships are available on a limited basis each year. 

In order to receive Medical Professional Liability Insurance Sponsorship resident physicians/fellows must first be an approved KLT provider and then must:

1. Complete a Medical Professional Liability Insurance Application
2. Agree to the terms and conditions defined in the policies and procedures
3. Meet the eligibility requirements
