Hearing and Vision Screening Workshops

Below are the currently scheduled hearing and vision screenings. The list will be updated as more screenings are scheduled. If you have any questions regarding hearing and vision screenings, please call the AHEC Statewide Office at 620-235-4040.

Vision Screening & Assessment Workshops

Vision Screening & Assessment Workshops are designed to provide vision screening theory and practices for nurses and other service providers in public health, schools, and community work sites. Participants will utilize the information and learn skills to perform standardized vision screening techniques for children and youth.

Each course is only allotted 12 initial attendees. Once a course has reached that cap, registration for that course will close.

Hearing Screening Workshops

Hearing Screening Workshops are designed to certify participants to conduct Level1 or Level 2 Hearing Screenings. The workshops include an overview of the Hearing Screening Law, practice Otoscopic inspections, pure tone air conduction sweep screenings, and threshold screening as well as explaining the results.

NOTE: You must be certified in level one screening before registering for level two.

Please note the following:

  • Hearing screening renewal training should be attended every two years.
  • You must be certified in level one hearing screening before registering for level two hearing screening.
  • Satisfactory completion of the hearing screening renewal workshop is required to renew the current level of training.
  • Renewal should be at the highest level of training completed.
    • When participants attend the initial Level 2 training, Level 1 is automatically renewed.
  • Each course is only allotted 10 initial attendees and 4-5 renewal attendees. Once a course has reached that cap, registration for that course will close.
