Community Relations
The Office of Community Relations is the University of Kansas Medical Center's front door for community partnerships. Our team works closely with people, Kansas City metropolitan businesses, neighbors and civic organizations who want to work with the KU Medical Center.
About Community Relations at KU Medical Center
We routinely help our external partners navigate our system, and connect our faculty, staff and students to the wider community through meaningful partnerships to address community needs, enrich student learning and facilitate research. Our goal is to make lasting connections, develop partnerships, and exceed expectations as a community partner.
Our team deals directly with our public, business, and neighborhood partners, while our Institute for Community Engagement team emphasizes relationships and programs with health care providers across Kansas.
The University of Kansas Medical Center uses the Carnegie Foundations' definition for community engagement and recently worked with the University of Kansas to submit our 2020 reapplication for accreditation. Carnegie defines Community Engagement as the collaboration between institutions of higher education and their larger communities (local, regional/state, national, global) for the mutually beneficial exchange of knowledge and resources in a context of partnership and reciprocity.
