Today, the U.S. healthcare system primarily focuses on acute and chronic disease management with far fewer resources allocated to public health for primary prevention and addressing the drivers of health inequities: structural and social determinants of health. In this presentation, Jill Peltzer, PhD’12, MS’99, BSN’92, APRN-CNS will use the socioecological model and intersectionality to explore the determinants of health and their interrelationships that contribute to significant health inequities that exist in the United States and strategies to improve health outcomes for all individuals, families, and communities in the U.S.
