History of the KU Nurses Alumni Association
The KU Nurses Alumni Association was organized on October 14, 1919. Donations formed the financial survival of the early years. The first regular dues in the amount of $5 were collected in the early 1950s. The dues were increased to $10 in 1970. Current dues are $35 per year for an individual annual membership.
The active membership consists of graduates, former and current students of the University of Kansas School of Nursing, any honorary alumnus award recipients and associate members from the School of Nursing faculty.
The KU Nurses Alumni Association added statewide and metropolitan members-at-large in 1992 to the board of directors. These individuals reside in various parts of the Kansas City metro or the state of Kansas.
Through the support of its members, the KU Nurses Alumni Association plays a key role in supporting student activities and scholarships.
