Volunteers Make a Difference
Volunteers play an important role in supporting our classrooms, assisting families, and helping our programs run smoothly.
At Project Eagle, the strength of our work comes from the people who care about children and families in our community. Volunteers play an important role in supporting our classrooms, assisting families, and helping our programs run smoothly. Whether you have an hour to give or want to get involved regularly, there are many meaningful ways to help.
One of the most popular opportunities is serving as a Classroom Reader. Volunteers visit classrooms to read with children and share a favorite story. These visits bring joy to our students and help foster early literacy skills in a fun and engaging way. Guest readers are welcome Tuesday through Friday mornings between 9:30 and 11:30.
For those who enjoy hands-on activities, there are several ways to help behind the scenes. Volunteers can assemble take-home activity packets that children use with their families, assist with spring cleaning projects that refresh classrooms and storage spaces, or donate recyclable materials like cardboard tubes and small boxes that teachers use for creative classroom projects.
Those who enjoy being active can volunteer as Playground Pals, providing an extra set of eyes and ears while children play outdoors and interact with teachers and students. Early risers may enjoy serving as Early Morning Greeters, helping welcome families and ensuring children start their day at the center with a warm smile.
Volunteers can also support Project Eagle by assisting with special events, helping in the school garden, or bringing their own unique talents to share with classrooms and students. No matter the role, every volunteer helps strengthen our learning environment and supports the families we serve.
Community members who are interested in volunteering can complete the volunteer form available on the Project Eagle Volunteer page or contact Development Manager Kara Thompson at kthompson10@kumc.edu to learn more about current opportunities.
Beginning this month, Project Eagle will also launch a monthly volunteer newsletter that will share upcoming opportunities to get involved, upcoming events, and ways supporters can make an impact in our center.
In addition to volunteering time, community members can also support Project Eagle by donating resources, participating in book drives, sponsoring events, or simply spreading the word about our work. Attending a Project Eagle Learning Tour is another great way to learn more about our programs and discover how you can get involved.
Project Eagle is grateful for the continued support of our community. Together, we can create stronger learning experiences and brighter futures for the children and families we serve.
