Kansas HOSA SLC 2025: Bigger, Bolder, and Celebrating 45 Years
The two-day state leadership conference will include brand-new competitive events making their Kansas HOSA debut.

When it convenes later this month, the Kansas HOSA State Leadership Conference will make history. A record-setting number of Kansas students will gather at Kansas State University March 26-27, 2025, for competition, networking and hands-on learning — all while celebrating 45 years of Kansas HOSA.
Part of the global HOSA: Future Health Professionals organization, Kansas HOSA is currently experiencing explosive growth. In total, 973 Kansas HOSA members — middle school, high school and post-secondary students from communities across Kansas — will attend the conference, up from 641 last year. For the first time ever, the conference will feature two opening ceremonies to accommodate this milestone event.
The two-day conference will include brand-new competitive events making their Kansas HOSA debut. Students will have the chance to compete in Surgical Care Technician, a pilot event that could become an official competition at the international level, and Patient Care Technician, which is now a national event. The conference will also introduce the Health Care Literacy Ambassador, recognizing students who have gone above and beyond in their preparation for the International Leadership Conference.
Keynote speaker Cameron Carter, a member of the HOSA International Executive Council, will bring insight and inspiration to this year’s conference. Competitors will also have the chance to test their skills with the return of events like Anatomage, where participants engage with virtual 3D anatomy tables. A new event, Body Interact, will allow students to battle it out in a high-tech anatomy showdown.
For the first time, three expos will give students access to learn about a wide range of opportunities, from college and university training programs to health care and advocacy organizations. Neosho and Labette Community Colleges will host hands-on health care skills labs, giving students and advisors a chance to sharpen their practical skills. A working EMS ambulance will be on-site, and students can earn Stop the Bleed certification during the event. Washburn Criminal Justice & Legal Studies will also bring forensic science to life with a fully interactive crime scene for the competition.
Throughout 2025, Kansas HOSA is celebrating its 45th anniversary. The Spring Leadership Conference will feature a display about the organization’s history, and attendees will receive exclusive anniversary swag. Annual conferences are just one way that Kansas HOSA helps students across the state learn about the limitless potential for health care careers. Kansas HOSA is proudly chartered by KU Medical Center Area Health Education Center, with Tina Garetson serving a state advisor. The organization’s total membership is at an all-time high in 2025, and more than 80 chapters in communities large and small offer Kansas students the chance to explore a vast range of career options.
With so many opportunities to compete, learn, and connect, Kansas HOSA SLC 2025 is shaping up to be the biggest and best conference yet. The event will give nearly 1,000 Kansas students the opportunity to take their passion for health care to the next level.
