Exploring the Future of Health Care: KU Medical Center Introduces Innovative Health Career Exploration Day

The University of Kansas Medical Center's Area Health Education Center to host Health Career Exploration Day

text: WELCOME TO HEALTH CAREER EXPLORATION DAY at k u medical centerIn an effort to harness the passion and curiosity among aspiring health care professionals, the KU Medical Center Area Health Education Center (AHEC) unveils its latest initiative: Health Career Exploration Day. This intensive one-day program, slated to debut on April 10, 2024, promises an immersive journey through diverse health care careers.

The event will bring an estimated120 students over the academic year to KU Medical Center for an experience that goes far beyond a traditional campus tour. The AHEC will invite students and schools who have actively participated in HOSA or other health career promotion programs.

Led by Tina Goosz-Garetson, health career communications coordinator, this new event offers an array of enriching activities. From orthopedic research showcasing surgical implants to hands-on experiences in respiratory therapy, students will have experts guide them through a range of opportunities in the health sciences.

Additionally, participants will have the chance to explore clinical laboratory science rotations, interact with admissions representatives for valuable application insights and network with seasoned health care professionals.

"Health Career Exploration Day provides a unique opportunity for students to witness firsthand the breadth and depth of health care professions," remarked Tina. Inspiring the next generation of health care leaders and innovators is a major part of the AHEC's work, and we look forward to hosting future trailblazers during this special event."

AHEC will send invitations for the inaugural Health Career Exploration Day in mid-March. Please email Tina Goosz-Garetson at tgoosz@kumc.edu for more information on the event and how to attend.
