Welcome to the University of Kansas Medical Center! We are excited you have decided to join our team and look forward to working with you! Your role with the University is critical to fulfilling our missions of Education, Research, Patient Care, and Service.
Before you start, there is some important information that you will need to know:
Complete Your Onboarding Tasks
Please make sure you have completed your Onboarding Tasks in Workday, the University of Kansas Medical Center’s HR and Finance Program. You will receive two email messages to access Workday. The first message will include your username; the second email will include a randomly generated password and a direct link to Workday. Use the link and credentials in these messages to log in to Workday and complete your onboarding tasks. If you have questions about completing your Onboarding Tasks, please reach out to your recruiter.

- Your benefits coverage will be effective as of your hire date. If you do not make your benefits selections within 30 days of your hire date, your coverage will be waived for the remainder of the plan year

Parking
New employees located at the main campus can park in the P5 garage for their first week, located at 3724 Cambridge St., Kansas City, KS 66160. You will need to visit the Parking Services Office on the 2nd floor of P5 to receive a parking pass good for 5 uses.

Employee ID Badge
The badge office is located at Delp G079. You will need to bring a photo ID to obtain your badge!
New Employee Orientation
Your supervisor or department will schedule you for New Employee Orientation during the first few weeks of employment. This presentation will teach you about your benefits, from our Benefits Team, and about important resources you will need as a new employee from around the University.
You will receive an email sometime during the week prior to Orientation with instructions on how to access the meeting. This meeting will be online via Zoom and can be attended from anywhere and any device. Your department may require you to attend onsite, so please check with them ahead of time. If you need a device to access the meeting, please work with your department.
NOTE: Student, Standardized Patients, Temporary, and Part-Time employees working less than 48% FTE may, but are not required, to attend the new employee orientation.

Benefits Enrollment
Your Benefits enrollment portal will be opened within a week of your date of hire.
- If you do not make your benefits selections within 30 days of your hire date, your coverage will be waived for the remainder of the plan year
- Before enrollment, you will receive an email from the State Employee Health Plan once your enrollment portal is active
- If you do not receive an email notifying you of your enrollment portal, please email benefits-university@kumc.edu

Mandatory Compliance Training
You will receive an email with a link to mandatory new employee training online. This training must be completed within 30 days from your start date!
Parking Permit
After your first week, you will need a parking permit to park in a University managed lot. You can register your vehicle by visiting the Parking Services Employee Vehicle Registration page. You will be asked to enter your vehicle information, including your license plate information, to complete the registration. Once registration is completed, you will need to rank your parking location preferences. After selecting your preferences, Parking Services will assign you a parking zone based on your preference and availability.
Shuttle services are available for transportation around Main Campus, nearby parking zones, and between the Main Campus and the Westwood Campus. You can find maps for the different parking zones and shuttle stops by visiting the Parking Services Website under Campus Maps.
