Professional Background

As a practicing Orthopedic Oncologist for 30 years, I have devoted my career to the treatment of patients with bone and soft tissue sarcomas. Orthopedic Oncology a very young and new specialty and I have had the privilege and honor of being involved with it from essentially its inception. I have been involved with the development of tumor prostheses, from the early days of custom designed implants, to the development of an entire limb reconstruction modular system that can be available for a patient at any time. Non-invasive limb lengthening techniques have enabled us to salvage even the youngest patient's limbs with preservation of limb lengths even into adulthood, and my involvement in the development of these types of implants have improved the practice of numerous other orthopedic oncologists, trauma surgeons, and of course patients. Our continued research, both on the basic science level as well as clinical sphere have improved our care of patients with sarcoma.
