Professional Background
Haoran Li, M.D., Ph.D., is a board-certified medical oncologist and assistant professor at the University of Kansas Cancer Center, specializing in genitourinary and gastrointestinal cancers, clinicogenomics, and the integration of artificial intelligence in oncology care. Dr. Li’s academic journey includes a Ph.D. from the University of Toronto and advanced training through hematology/oncology fellowships at the University of Ottawa and the University of Utah.
Dr. Li’s research contributions are extensive, with numerous publications in high-impact journals such as JAMA. He has presented his work at international conferences such as ASCO. His research focuses on genomic and transcriptomic profiling of cancer patients, predictive biomarkers, and AI in cancer management. Notably, he was selected for the AACR/MBCO workshop. He also received the prestigious ASCO Conquer Cancer Merit Award.
In his current role, Dr. Li serves as an editorial board member for several journals including BMC Cancer, Therapeutic Advances in Urology and Scientific Reports. He also serves in fellowship program evaluation committee (PEC), while also mentoring residents and fellows on innovative projects. Fluent in Mandarin and English, he continues to advance the field of oncology through clinical research. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family and two children.
