Professional Background

Heather Anderson, M.D., FAAN, is a clinical associate professor on the clinical track in the Department of Neurology. She completed her medical degree and residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center, followed by a neurophysiology fellowship, also at KU Medical Center. She has served in several leadership roles within the Department of Neurology, including as education core director for KU’s Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center and KU’s Alzheimer’s and Memory Program; director of the Neurology and Neuropsychiatry clerkships; and as director of the Dementia in Down Syndrome Education Program.
Dr. Anderson’s clinical interests include geriatric neurology, neurophysiology and general neurology.


Research

Overview

Dr. Anderson’s research interests include geriatric neurology and general neurology. She has presented on memory loss, managing falls in older adults and healthy brain aging. Dr. Anderson has also developed educational materials on subjects such as neuropathic pain, stroke prevention in cerebrovascular disease and neurocognitive disorders.
