Other global education efforts

  • Robinson Scholars — This program is for students who want to complete an International Education Experience at the Christian Medical College in Vellore, India. Students from the School of Health Professions are eligible to apply for a scholarship to complete an elective rotation during the summer, and School of Medicine and School of Nursing students can apply for an International Elective Rotation that occurs during February of their final year.
  • Clendening Summer Fellowship — Eight to 10 medical students pursue independent research between their first and second years of medical school. Clendening Fellows have studied such diverse topics as risk factors for HIV transmission in Addis Ababa; the use of traditional therapeutics in the Tibetan Autonomous region of China; the archeology of ancient Greek healing shrines; personal narratives as healing among children orphaned by AIDS in Nigeria; the 16-century dissolution of parish hospitals under Henry VIII; heroin addiction and treatment programs in Mombasa, Kenya; and oral histories of the integration of East and West German health systems in Berlin.
  • Kansas-Paraguay Partnership — KU School of Medicine-Wichita's Family and Community Medicine department's longtime partnership with Paraguay.
  • Health Care and Social Policies in Sweden — Summer course offered through the University of Kansas and taught by KU Medical Center faculty. Open to undergraduate and graduate students from any accredited U.S. college or university with an interest in health care, or social policies. Also open to interested professionals in the field.
