Professional Background

Dr. Fernando Mujica is an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at the University of Kansas Medical Center.

Dr. Mujica received his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine and proceeded to complete a categorical internship, residency in anesthesiology, and fellowship in adult cardiothoracic anesthesiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He is currently a diplomat of the American Board of Echocardiography.

Dr. Mujica’s research interests have included blood pressure variability and its relation to surgical outcomes, thoracic surgery and pain control, as well as having presented and published medical cases that have been performed in the cardiothoracic surgical sub-specialty.

Dr. Mujica currently serves as a thoracic surgical liaison for the Department of Anesthesiology where he works to facilitate employment of new surgical approaches and maintain congruency in protocols for the delivery of healthcare to this subspecialty population.
