Emily Olig, M.D.

Professional Background

Dr. Olig is a Midwest native who began her education in Biological Systems Engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She received her Doctor of Medicine from the University of North Dakota and came to Kansas City to complete her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at KUMC. She received advanced surgical training at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona during a Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery fellowship and returned to Kansas City to continue to provide complex benign gynecologic care.

​Her clinical expertise is in medical and surgical management of endometriosis, fibroids, enlarged uteri, and chronic pelvic pain. She is trained in thorough excision of endometriosis and focuses on a balanced approach to pelvic pain with multimodal treatment strategies. She strives to provide patient-centered care that meets the needs and goals of each individual patient.

Dr. Olig's research interests include surgical ergonomics and innovative management of chronic pelvic pain. As a minimally invasive surgeon, she has a keen interest in the design of surgical instruments and the impact they may have on surgeons of different sizes and strengths. She is working to incorporate clinical research into her management of patients with endometriosis and pain to determine optimal treatment strategies in the perioperative time period.
