Professional Background

Dr. Emily Newton completed her fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Kansas, following her General Surgery training at the University of North Carolina. She earned her medical degree from St. Louis University.
As a thoracic surgeon, Dr. Newton is dedicated to providing expert, patient-centered care for individuals with conditions requiring surgical treatment of lung and esophageal cancer, hiatal hernias, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and disorders of the diaphragm and chest wall.
She offers a full range of surgical options, including traditional open procedures as well as advanced minimally invasive approaches such as robotic-assisted thoracic surgery and video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS).
Dr. Newton’s practice is grounded in individualized care and collaboration. She works closely with a multidisciplinary team to develop comprehensive treatment plans tailored to each patient’s goals and values. From diagnosis through recovery, she strives to ensure that every patient feels informed, supported, and confident in their care.
